The IIFA awards was held yesterday and there was a huge turnout of Bollywood celebrities. It was jam-packed, the three Khans din't turn up for the function due to their prior commitments.

IIFA awards 2009 :: A.R.Rahman and Asin bag IIFA awards

It was another evening of glitz and glamour, with all the top celebrities from Bollywood for the IIFA awards 2009. Music maverick A.R.Rahman won the best music director and best back ground score award for Jodhaa-Akbar and actress Asin Thottumkal won the best female debutante for her role in Ghajini at the International Indian Film Academy awards held at Venetian Hotel, Macau on Saturday.

Rahman wasn't present at the function due to his professional commitments and director Gowariker received the award on his behalf. Singer Javed Ali got the best playback singer award for Jashan-e-Baharaa from Jodhaa Akbar followed by Javed Akhtar for best lyrics for the same song. Resul Pookuty was awarded for the best sound recording in Ghajini.

G.V.Prakash to perform Live in Aayirathil Oruvan Audio Launch

Composer G.V.Prakash is a happy man these days. First and foremost the biggest project of his career is going to release soon. It is Selvaraghavan's Aayirathil Oruvan. The project has been under making for the past 18 months and is almost complete. The movie is said to be an action adventure. The movie kicks off with the year 2009 and rolls back till seventh century. It is considered as Selvaraghavan's magnum opus. Although the movie got delayed due to various reasons the fans are not worried but their expectations have gone up. Selvaraghavan is all praise for the music director and Producer for their patience. He says we started the project with a buget of 15 crore in mind, but it overshot and went upto 35 crores. You can now Download Aayirathil Oruvan songs.

And the audio of the film is going to release on June 14 and the G.V.Prakash is going to perform live with his band in the function.The function would be held in University Centenary Hall in Chepauk. Sun TV has bought the rights for the telecast. African dancers are expected to perform in the show. The album has 10 songs and a couple of background scores to show how the music was centuries ago.

Real Madrid buys Kaka for ₤56 million

AC Milan's key striker Kaka has been bought by Real Madrid for a whopping 65 million euros(Rs.432 crore) leaving the entire football fraternity dumbstruck. This is the second record price after Zidane who moved from Juventus to Real Madrid for 73.5 million euros in 2001. The news is that Kaka has fetched more than Zidane, because the British media calculated the fee in pound-sterling and discovered that he had fetched ₤56 million against Zidane’s ₤45.6 million.

Honda Jazz Launched in India

Honda Motor Company launched their new model Jzz in India today.Honda Jazz was initially launched in Japan in the year 2001. Honda Jazz comes in three different models: a basic one, Jazz mode and Jazz active. The price varies from Rs.6.98 to 7.40 lacs. All Jazz models come standard with dual front air bags, dash integrated MP3/CD sound system with steering mounted controls and ABS + EBD.

The interior design of Jazz is as impressive as Honda Civic. The Jazz has been launched in India with a 1.2 L i-VTEC engine which has been specially developed for the Indian Market.The new powertrain is a 4 cylinder 1198 cc engine featuring Programmed Fuel Injection delivering a power of 89 Bhp at 6200 rpm and torque of 110 Nm at 4800 rpm. It is expected that Jazz will give mileage of around 13-14 kms per litre in city driving.Honda India has initially launched Jazz with 1.2 litre engine. But they are also planning to launch another version of Jazz with much more powerful 1.5 litre 118 Bhp engine which is currently available in Honda City.

Sehwag out of T20 World Cup :: Returning home

Virender Sehwag is out of the T20 World Cup after failing to recover from the shoulder injury. He will be returning back to India after consulting a few specialists in England. BCCI confirmed today evening in a press release that Sehwag will not be playing T20 World Cup and will have to return back to India.

Dinesh Karthik will be sent to England tomorrow, as he has been looking in good form right from IPL. And he seems to be a reserve keeper option which the team needed. Lets hope Rohit Sharma's good form continues through out the tournament and balances the loss of Virender Sehwag.
