Surya's Ayan completed 100 days today across various theatres in the city. It is the highest grosser in Surya's career and the first blockbuster of the year 2009. It is now openly known that Suriya is the clear number one star in Kollywood and commands a huge opening especially in up market territories, the 3 C’s- Chennai City, Chengalpet (Chennai suburbs) and Coimbatore.
As per our sources in the trade Ayan has taken a share of Rs 4.05 Crore from Chennai , the third highest grosser for a Tamil film in the city. At number one position and the record holder is Superstar Rajinikanth’s 'Sivaji', with Rs 6.85 crore share, and in the second position is ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Hassan’s Dasavatharam with Rs 5. 60 crore! If Rajini is 'the Emperor' and Kamal 'the King', then we can call Suriya 'the Prince' of Chennai Box Office!
